Biodiversity Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Biodiversity Manager to lead biodiversity work across all workstreams for the Zarafshan Wind Power Project. The role will oversee the implementation of biodiversity management plans, BMP and BAP measures, and handle grievances related to biodiversity. The position can be based in Abu Dhabi or Zarafshan (Uzbekistan) and will also support Masdar’s broader portfolio and corporate biodiversity initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead implementation and monitoring of the Biodiversity Management Plan in line with international standards.
• Develop, implement and report on Biodiversity Action Plans for plant species and bird offset plans for target species fatalities.
• Manage biodiversity surveys conducted by external consultants and oversee tender processes for monitoring bird and bat populations.
• Analyse survey results and update management plans as needed.
• Provide technical ornithological advice on installation, configuration and maintenance of the Identiflight Shutdown on Demand system.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s (minimum) and preferably Master’s degree in Biology, Ecology or related disciplines.
• 8‑10 years of biodiversity management experience, including at least 3 years on wind‑power projects.
• Demonstrated experience with BMPs, BAPs, offsets, Shutdown on Demand and PCFM, preferably under IFC, EBRD or ADB frameworks.
