Business Data Analyst - Banking

About the role

We are seeking a Business Data Analyst with banking or financial‑services experience to drive data‑focused transformation across our client’s operations. The analyst will act as a bridge between business stakeholders and technology teams, turning business needs into clear data requirements and supporting reporting, reconciliation and automation initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Gather, analyse and document business and data requirements from banking, finance, risk, compliance and operations teams.
• Identify data sources across core banking, digital channels, CRM, risk and finance systems.
• Perform data discovery, profiling, cleansing and validation to detect gaps and anomalies.
• Create source‑to‑target mappings, data dictionaries, business rules and data lineage documentation.
• Write and execute SQL queries for extraction, analysis, validation and reconciliation.
• Analyse large datasets to uncover trends, exceptions and business insights.
• Develop and maintain MIS dashboards and management reports using Power BI or Excel.
• Automate manual reporting and data‑analysis processes.
• Support SIT/UAT testing, prepare test scenarios and validate data and reports.
• Investigate production data issues and assist with root‑cause analysis.

Required profile

• 3–6 years of experience as a Business Data Analyst, Data Analyst, BI Analyst or Technical Business Analyst.
• Prior experience in banking, financial services or fintech (strongly preferred).
• Strong understanding of banking processes, products and data flows.
• Ability to communicate findings to senior business stakeholders.
