Chemical Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Chemical Engineer to join our process safety consulting team serving the energy and chemical sectors across the Gulf region. The role involves delivering safety studies such as HAZOP, SIL and QRA for client projects.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct field work, collect and organise data, and prepare reports for safety studies (HAZOP, SIL, QRA).
• Apply expertise in process engineering, instrumentation, automation and petroleum engineering to support project managers.
• Coordinate documentation, draft safety consulting reports and ensure continuous learning of new techniques and standards.
• Work flexible hours, including weekends or holidays, and adhere to the company’s overtime policy (time off in lieu).

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Environmental, Instrumentation, Electrical, Automation, Mechanical, Petroleum Engineering or related discipline from a university listed in the QS World University Rankings or US News & World Report.
• Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in process safety, chemical plant operations or related fields.
• Fluency in English as the working language.
• No criminal record and successful completion of a medical fitness test.
• Serious, responsible, practical and able to work independently under pressure.

Required skills

• Proficiency in HAZOP, SIL and QRA methodologies.
• Ability to interpret and develop Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
• Experience with risk assessment tools such as BowtieXP or PHAST.
• Knowledge of API 520/521 standards for pressure‑relieving systems.
• Familiarity with emerging technologies like digital twins for process safety.
