Chief System Engineer

About the role

EDGE Group’s Advanced Concepts division is seeking a senior leader to own the technical performance of high‑technology autonomous systems, including unmanned aerial vehicles, precision loitering munitions, cruise missiles and guided artillery munitions.

Key responsibilities

• Take overall technical authority for product systems throughout their life cycle, from mission analysis to verification and validation.
• Lead creation and modification of detailed aircraft and missile designs using advanced CAD tools, ensuring compliance with engineering standards.
• Conduct aerodynamic and flight‑mechanics analyses with CFD and other simulation tools to guide design decisions.
• Direct hands‑on prototyping using 3D printing, CNC machining and custom PCB design to evolve concepts into functional systems.
• Design and implement defense system hardware‑software integration, using PX4, MAVLink, ROS, and real‑time C++ applications.

Required profile

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; Master’s or PhD preferred.
• At least 18 years of systems‑engineering experience in the defence industry.
• Demonstrated expertise in missile design, flight mechanics, stability, weight‑and‑balance and structural design.

Required skills

• Advanced CAD, FEA and CFD proficiency.
• Software development in C++, Qt and QML for real‑time processing.
• Robotics frameworks such as ROS, and communication protocols PX4 and MAVLink.
• Prototyping techniques including 3D printing, CNC machining and PCB design.
• Application of Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and related engineering specialty software.
