Civil Engineer (Sewerage Pumping Station)

About the role

The Civil Engineer will support projects associated with sewerage pumping stations, undertaking investigations, planning, design, tendering, contract administration and construction supervision. The role is based in Abu Dhabi and works closely with the Resident Engineer, contractors and government authorities to ensure successful delivery of utility works.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Resident Engineer in day‑to‑day administration of utility works.
• Interact with contractors, sub‑contractors and laboratories; monitor construction activities on a daily basis.
• Coordinate with government departments, contractors, consultants and the public to avoid delays.
• Maintain logs of project progress, hand‑over documentation and final accounts.
• Organise and minute progress meetings with service authorities and distribute records.
• Chair utility meetings and other meetings delegated by the Resident Engineer.
• Review shop drawings, design proposals, method statements and related correspondence; prepare replies.
• Prepare instructions, specifications, reports and cost estimates.
• Coordinate scheduling and resource application with contractor engineers.
• Direct, assist and monitor inspectors and surveyors as required.
• Review and approve design documents, construction plans and procedures.
• Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports.
• Maintain as‑built records and manage hand‑over of utility works to service authorities; assist contractors in obtaining final clearance.
• Identify non‑conforming works, generate reports, propose corrective actions and coordinate resolution.

Required profile

• Minimum 96 months (8 years) of experience in civil engineering projects related to sewerage pumping stations or utility works.
• Proven experience in contract administration, design review and construction supervision.
• Ability to coordinate with government agencies and multiple stakeholders.
• Strong documentation skills, including preparation of reports, cost estimates and progress updates.
