Clinical Informatics Specialist – Imaging

About the role

The Clinical Informatics Specialist – Imaging will manage and administer the Radiology Information System (RIS), Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), voice recognition and dictaphone solutions for American Hospital Dubai and its clinics. The role ensures reliable operation, supports end‑users, and drives technology planning for imaging workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations, maintenance, and high‑availability of RIS, PACS, voice recognition and dictaphone systems.
• Analyse technical and functional requirements, propose innovative solutions, and document workflows.
• Collaborate with vendors and user groups to design and test system configurations and upgrades.
• Perform application testing, system integration, customization, and user training.
• Manage user access, backup, storage, and server infrastructure supporting imaging applications.
• Lead project planning, documentation, change‑control procedures, and escalation handling for RIS/PACS initiatives.
• Evaluate existing processes, recommend improvements, and implement new workflows to enhance efficiency and patient satisfaction.

Required profile

• Strong technical expertise in medical imaging informatics and industry best practices.
• Ability to translate business needs into functional system designs.
• Experience working with radiology departments, technical directors, and clinicians.
• Proactive attitude toward safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.
