Consultant Ophthalmologist – Abu Dhabi

About the role

The Abu Dhabi Region is seeking a qualified Consultant Ophthalmologist to join its eye care team. You will deliver comprehensive ophthalmic services, lead clinical initiatives, and mentor junior staff in a dynamic hospital environment.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct thorough patient assessments, obtain histories and order appropriate diagnostic tests.
• Interpret test results and develop personalized treatment plans for ocular injuries, diseases and disorders.
• Prescribe medications, perform ophthalmic surgeries and other specialized procedures.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated patient care.
• Document clinical information accurately and in compliance with regulatory standards.
• Participate in quality‑improvement projects, clinical audits and research activities.
• Supervise, teach and guide residents, fellows and medical students.
• Communicate diagnoses, treatment options and consent information compassionately to patients and families.

Required profile

• MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution.
• Completed residency or fellowship in Ophthalmology.
• Minimum 2–3 years of post‑specialisation clinical experience.
• Valid Abu Dhabi Department of Health (DOH) license or eligibility letter, and a current license from the last practicing country.
• Certificate of good standing from the relevant licensing authority.
• Successful completion of the DOH licensing examination.
• Fluency in English and Arabic.
