Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon – Foot & Ankle

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon specializing in foot and ankle surgery to join our Orthopedics Department in Abu Dhabi. The role involves comprehensive diagnosis and surgical management of complex foot and ankle disorders, including sports injuries, trauma, degenerative conditions and deformities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide consultant‑level assessment and management of patients with foot and ankle conditions.
• Diagnose and treat foot and ankle trauma and fractures.
• Manage sports‑related foot and ankle injuries.
• Treat ankle instability and Achilles tendon disorders.
• Correct hallux valgus, forefoot deformities, flatfoot and cavus foot.
• Address arthritis and degenerative joint disease of the foot and ankle.
• Handle tendon and ligament disorders and complex foot and ankle deformities.
• Manage diabetic and other complex foot conditions in collaboration with relevant specialties.
• Perform operative procedures including foot and ankle reconstruction, ankle arthroscopy, ligament reconstruction, Achilles tendon surgery, forefoot and hindfoot surgery, corrective osteotomy, ankle arthroplasty (where appropriately trained), and complex trauma and fracture fixation.
• Provide pre‑operative evaluation and individualized surgical treatment plans.
• Deliver post‑operative care and coordinate rehabilitation.
• Work closely with physiotherapists, podiatrists, sports medicine specialists, radiologists and multidisciplinary teams.
• Participate in outpatient foot and ankle clinics, operating lists and on‑call services.
• Contribute to clinical protocols, quality improvement and patient‑safety initiatives.
• Teach and supervise residents, fellows and junior physicians.
• Engage in research, clinical audits and service development.
• Maintain accurate medical records and comply with UAE healthcare regulations and hospital policies.

Required profile

• Medical degree from a recognized institution.
• Consultant‑level experience in orthopedic foot and ankle surgery.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Commitment to patient safety and adherence to local healthcare regulations.
