Consultant Pediatric Plastic Surgeon

About the role

The Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC) in Abu Dhabi is seeking a Consultant in Pediatric Plastic Surgery. The successful candidate will lead a multidisciplinary team, delivering high-quality, evidence-based surgical care to children and overseeing junior medical staff.

Key responsibilities

• Provide clinical excellence by diagnosing, managing and treating pediatric plastic surgery patients.
• Conduct patient examinations, obtain histories, order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatments and develop comprehensive care plans.
• Lead ward rounds and manage both inpatient and outpatient cases.
• Supervise and train junior doctors, specialists, GPs and residents.
• Collaborate with other specialties and participate in multidisciplinary meetings.
• Participate in on-call rotation covering evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays.
• Document clinical information accurately and comply with hospital, departmental and DOH policies.
• Engage in quality improvement activities, clinical audits and risk management.
• Communicate effectively with patients and families, ensuring informed consent.

Required profile

• MBBS or equivalent degree with postgraduate qualification (MD, MS, DNB) and board certification or fellowship from a recognized institution.
• 3–7 years of post-specialty clinical experience in pediatric plastic surgery within a multidisciplinary setting.
• Eligibility for a valid Abu Dhabi Department of Health (DOH) licence, including primary source verification and DOH exam (unless exempted).
• Good standing certificate from current/previous licensing authority.
