Consultant Physician – Hematology & Oncology

About the role

The Consultant Physician in Hematology & Oncology leads the delivery of high‑quality, evidence‑based patient care, supervises junior medical staff, and serves as a clinical exemplar within the specialty.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose, manage and treat patients according to best‑practice standards for hematology and oncology.
• Oversee clinical activities of junior staff and assume responsibility for the care they provide.
• Lead ward rounds, reassess in‑patients and out‑patients regularly, and document all clinical information promptly.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings to plan safe, holistic patient care.
• Support and implement hospital, departmental and divisional policies, including performance management and peer review processes.
• Assist the Division Chief with scheduling, recruitment, and ensuring adequate medical coverage.
• Provide on‑call coverage on a rotational basis, including evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays.
• Communicate clinical information to patients and families with consent, and maintain collaborative relationships with staff.

Required profile

• Board‑certified physician in Hematology and Oncology.
• Proven experience in leading clinical teams and supervising junior medical staff.
• Commitment to clinical excellence, continuous learning and teaching.
• Ability to work within hospital policies and performance management systems.
