Core Software Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a strong backend/full‑stack engineer to join Able, a stablecoin neobank building the next generation card rail on non‑custodial infrastructure. As one of the first engineers, you will work directly with the founder on money‑critical fintech systems that power real‑world card spending.

Key responsibilities

• Own and extend a TypeScript/Node API handling authentication, KYC orchestration, card provisioning, money movement and webhooks.
• Integrate non‑custodial issuers, on‑chain deposits, USDC via CCTP and reconcile on‑chain funds with card spend.
• Develop money‑critical code such as per‑user integer ledgers, idempotency, webhook deduplication, serialized wallet operations, limits, sanctions and geoblocking.
• Implement end‑to‑end vendor integrations including request signing, payload encryption, OTP and 3DS challenge flows.
• Contribute to frontend surfaces when needed, using React/Vite for web and Expo/React Native for mobile.
• Manage backend operations: database, Vercel deployment, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, secrets hygiene and production incident debugging.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience building production backend or full‑stack systems in TypeScript/Node.
• Strong understanding of money‑movement invariants, idempotency, double‑entry accounting and race‑condition handling.
• Ability to read and adapt vendor API documentation, even when incomplete.
• Crypto literacy or willingness to learn EVM chains, ERC‑20 transfers and bridging.
• Security‑focused mindset with awareness of PCI boundaries, PAN handling, step‑up authentication and KYC/AML.
