CPT Technician

About the role

The CPT Technician is responsible for delivering a high‑quality, safe and effective cone penetration testing (CPT) service to clients in marine and land environments. The role works closely with geologists, engineers, consultants and other stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a high‑quality, safe and effective CPT probing service for clients.
• Liaise with geologists, engineers, consultants and other project stakeholders.
• Provide leadership, promote teamwork and train crew on company standards, procedures and CPT techniques.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, operational procedures, occupational health, safety, environmental and quality standards.
• Manage and maintain on‑site assets including the CPT plant, support vehicles and tools.
• Investigate and document all incidents and accidents according to drilling procedures.
• Prepare accurate reports, documenting activities, chargeable items and compliance with reporting requirements.
• Perform land‑based and near‑shore CPT probing operations and acquire CPT data during test execution.
• Coordinate CPT activities with drilling operations and adhere to HSE regulations.
• Identify and report missing or defective equipment, workplace hazards or regulatory violations.

Required profile

• Demonstrated leadership and ability to train and guide crew members.
• Strong knowledge of CPT investigative techniques and geotechnical project scopes.
• Excellent communication skills to convey quality concerns to senior personnel.
• Ability to manage and maintain technical assets and equipment.
• Experience documenting incidents, preparing reports and ensuring regulatory compliance.
