Design Engineer – Systems Design

About the role

The Design Engineer transforms customer needs into actionable solutions through system design and detailed documentation. You will work closely with the sales team, including Account Managers, to understand client requirements, identify risks and communicate solutions to stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with Account Managers to translate customer requirements into functional system designs.
• Participate in client discussions, presenting design concepts and demonstrating how proposed systems meet needs.
• Provide labor estimates and material requirements to support sales proposals.
• Develop comprehensive design packages, including bill of materials, block diagrams, infrastructure plans and scopes of work.
• Determine infrastructure requirements (power, data, conduit) during pre‑sales and coordinate with general contractors.
• Assess project risks, account for site conditions and scheduling constraints.

Required profile

• Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to balance customer desires and internal business needs.
• Ownership of design accuracy and feasibility to ensure successful project execution.
• Excellent communication skills to explain complex technical designs in simple terms.
• Ability to work collaboratively across sales, engineering and construction teams.
