Embedded Linux / OpenWrt Engineer (Remote)

About the role

We are hiring two embedded Linux / OpenWrt engineers to develop firmware for a networking platform. The position is fully remote, targeting candidates in time zones GMT to GMT+4, with a preference for Dubai and the Gulf region.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain OpenWrt firmware, including packages, kernel configuration, and system integration.
• Own the router‑image build pipeline for multiple hardware SKUs.
• Write device‑side agents in Go for metrics, configuration reconciliation, and secure mTLS communication.
• Design on‑router services such as VPN/cellular bonding, modem state monitoring, and OTA updates.
• Integrate cellular modems using AT commands, QMI/MBIM, and collect LTE/5G metrics.
• Debug modem firmware, wireless drivers, PPP/QMI/MBIM, and netlink issues.
• Manage kernel upgrades, driver patches, and contribute upstream.

Required profile

• Strong embedded Linux experience.
• Proficiency with OpenWrt, including procd, netlink, and nftables.
• Solid Go development for device daemons, or strong C background.
• Confident shell scripting with BusyBox ash.
• Experience with cellular modems, AT commands, QMI/MBIM, and LTE/5G metrics.
• Strong networking knowledge covering routing, VPN, NAT, and DNS.
• Systems and architecture thinking with end‑to‑end ownership.
