Engineering Manager - Project Development and Studies

About the role

Wood is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead project development and studies for brownfield infrastructure and asset upgrade projects in the Middle East. Based in Dubai, the role will guide multidisciplinary teams through Concept, Feasibility, Pre‑FEED and FEED phases and ensure technical excellence throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Manage all engineering aspects of assigned projects, delivering within scope, budget and schedule.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams during Concept, Feasibility, Pre‑FEED and FEED studies.
• Develop and evaluate engineering solutions for technical integrity, operability, maintainability and cost‑effectiveness.
• Coordinate engineering interfaces across disciplines and stakeholders, ensuring compliance with codes, standards and Wood procedures.
• Identify, manage and mitigate technical risks and lead design reviews, workshops and value‑improvement initiatives.
• Oversee creation of engineering philosophies, design basis documents, execution strategies, schedules and cost estimates.
• Provide continuity and leadership through FEED, detailed design and execution phases.
• Support technical bid evaluations, contractor selection and interface with project management, operations and asset teams.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in the oil and gas industry, particularly on brownfield development projects.
• Proven track record in Front End Loading (FEL) and delivering FEED studies.
• Strong background in process engineering or previous Study Manager role.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams and manage stakeholder interfaces.
• Excellent risk management and problem‑solving capabilities.
