English Teacher (IB & British Curriculum) – August 2026

About the role

GEMS World Academy in Abu Dhabi is seeking experienced English teachers to join its secondary department from August 2026. The role involves delivering the International Baccalaureate (IB) and British curriculum to a diverse student body.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality, inclusive English lessons that meet IB and British curriculum standards.
• Collaborate with subject teachers to design strategies that support all learners.
• Use data to monitor progress and plan targeted interventions.
• Foster a positive classroom environment aligned with the IB Learner Profile and GEMS Core Values.
• Contribute to school‑wide inclusive practices and equity initiatives.
• Engage with parents and the wider community to support holistic student development.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a degree plus a recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, PGDE, state licence) with a specialism in English.
• Minimum three years of secondary English teaching experience, preferably within an IB or British curriculum context.
• Strong understanding of the IB philosophy and Approaches to Teaching and Learning.
• Proven ability to inspire, support and challenge students.
• Excellent communication, collaboration and organisational skills.
• Availability to start in August 2026.
