Faculty – Crisis & Emergency Management (Professor/Associate/Assistant)

About the role

The American University in the Emirates seeks full‑time faculty members (Professor, Associate Professor or Assistant Professor) to teach in the College of Security & Global Studies, focusing on Crisis Management, Emergency Management, Disaster Management and Risk Management. The role involves delivering high‑quality instruction, assessing student work, providing academic advising, and contributing to the university’s research and service missions.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver 24 credit hours per academic year in English, covering graduate and undergraduate courses in the specified specializations.
• Develop, review and update curricula to ensure relevance, rigor and alignment with professional standards.
• Conduct scholarly research, publish in peer‑reviewed journals and collaborate with other faculty members.
• Participate in departmental and university committees, accreditation activities and community outreach.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Emergency/Crisis Management or a closely related field from an accredited U.S. or American‑accredited institution.
• Minimum three years of professional experience in the field and at least two years of teaching or working experience at an internationally accredited university.
• Evidence of teaching 18 graduate credit hours (or equivalent) and at least one Scopus‑indexed publication.
• At least three scholarly publications within the last five years.

• Curricular development and academic program review.
• Proven record of peer‑reviewed publications and ongoing research agenda.
• Ability to integrate web‑based and digital technologies into classroom instruction.
• Excellent English communication skills; Arabic proficiency is also required for bilingual instruction.
