Field Protection Engineer - Abu Dhabi

About the role

Siemens is seeking a Field Protection Engineer to join its Digital Grid – Energy Automation & Protection team in Abu Dhabi. The role focuses on testing, commissioning and supporting protection and automation systems for high‑voltage transmission projects across the UAE and the wider Middle East.

Key responsibilities

• Test and commission Siemens Protection & Automation systems, preparing SAT/FAT protocols and technical documentation.
• Conduct Pre‑FAT/FAT activities with customers for protection panels (AVR, LIBBP, HIBBP, TIP, etc.).
• Develop commissioning procedures, method statements, work permits and testing protocols.
• Deliver technical presentations, perform fault analysis and root‑cause investigations on protection systems.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics/Communication Engineering.
• 3–5 years of experience in protection and automation commissioning, preferably in multicultural project environments.
• Experience with substation protection systems in the Middle East or international markets is a strong advantage.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with Siemens platforms: SIPROTEC 4, SIPROTEC 5, Reyrolle.
• Strong knowledge of IEC 61850, GOOSE, relay configuration tools, and industrial communication protocols.
• Proficiency with OMICRON test equipment and Test Universe (TU 4.20+), including distance, line‑differential and transformer‑differential testing.
• Familiarity with HV transmission protection schemes, CMGPS kits, and digital substation technologies such as Process Bus and RTU integration.
