Financial Controller – AML & Reporting (UAE)

About the role

We are seeking a Financial Controller to lead financial close, statutory reporting and AML/CTF practices for a Dubai‑based entity of a European financial group operating in payments and trade finance. The role ensures compliance, audit readiness and supports scaling of new payment products.

Key responsibilities

• Run the monthly close and produce accurate management accounts under IFRS.
• Manage cash, bank reconciliations, working capital and treasury routines.
• Lead statutory reporting for UAE VAT, Corporate Tax, ESR, UBO and other regulatory filings.
• Coordinate internal and external audits, prepare schedules and resolve audit findings.
• Develop and maintain internal controls, finance SOPs and risk registers.
• Design and operate the AML/CTF framework, including policies, KYC/EDD, sanctions screening, transaction monitoring, STR/SAR via goAML, training and record keeping.
• Partner with operations and product teams on new payment flows to ensure proper accounting, tax and AML treatment.
• Produce management information packs covering P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, variances and KPIs.

Required profile

• 5‑8 years of accounting/controlling experience in financial services or payments within the UAE.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, monthly close processes and audit procedures.
• Hands‑on experience with UAE VAT, Corporate Tax, ESR, UBO and related regulatory timelines.
• Practical exposure to AML/CTF in a regulated environment; CAMS certification is a plus.
• Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with ERP systems; Power BI experience is advantageous.
• Detail‑oriented, structured and able to work cross‑functionally with product, operations and compliance teams.
• Degree in Accounting/Finance; CPA, ACCA or CMA preferred.
