General Manager – Construction & Development

About the role

Abu Alanga Contracting and Development is looking for a strategic General Manager to lead its construction, engineering and development activities, focusing on large‑scale, high‑rise projects. The role reports directly to senior company leadership and is responsible for delivering projects on time, within budget and to the highest quality and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership for construction, engineering and development operations, especially high‑rise building projects.
• Direct project management, engineering, procurement, commercial, QA/QC, HSE and site operations.
• Oversee planning, execution, budgeting, contracts, procurement and risk management across multiple projects.
• Manage relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers and government authorities.
• Drive business development, identify new opportunities and support strategic growth.
• Monitor project performance, cost control, cash flow, profitability and key performance indicators.
• Ensure compliance with HSE, QA/QC, building regulations and contractual obligations.
• Lead senior management teams, fostering a culture of accountability, safety and continuous improvement.
• Report project status, financial results and risks to company leadership.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management or a related field.
• 20+ years of progressive experience in construction, contracting and development.
• Proven senior management experience in high‑rise building projects.
• Track record of delivering large‑scale residential, commercial, mixed‑use or hospitality developments.
• Extensive knowledge of high‑rise construction methods, contracts, procurement and risk management.
• Strong commercial acumen with experience in budgets, cost control, P&L and cash‑flow management.
• Excellent relationships with clients, consultants, authorities and industry stakeholders.
