General Manager

About the role

We are looking for an experienced General Manager to lead the Sharjah Waste to Energy Plant Operations & Maintenance company (SWTEPM), a joint venture between Veolia, BEEAH and Tadweer. The role oversees plant performance, safety, regulatory compliance and profitability.

Key responsibilities

• Direct daily plant operations, safety measures and maintenance activities to ensure smooth functioning.
• Develop and implement efficiency strategies, policies and production schedules to meet energy production targets while minimizing costs.
• Manage budgets, contracts, financial reporting and present quarterly results to the board.
• Ensure compliance with environmental, health and safety regulations and maintain ISO certification.
• Lead and motivate staff, conduct performance reviews and foster a positive organisational culture.
• Maintain stakeholder relationships with clients, regulators and partners.

Required profile

• Relevant engineering degree.
• 5‑10 years of experience in waste management or thermal energy production facilities, including operational leadership roles.
• Proven experience with environmental compliance, safety regulations and project management.
• Strong background in budget control, data analysis and performance reporting.
