About the role

A prominent general trading company in Dubai is seeking an experienced General Manager to provide strategic leadership and drive commercial, operational and business growth initiatives. The role reports directly to the board and is responsible for shaping the company’s long‑term vision while ensuring day‑to‑day excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the overall business strategy to achieve sustainable growth.
• Oversee commercial activities, sales performance and market expansion, with a focus on African markets.
• Lead operational functions to ensure efficiency, cost‑effectiveness and high service standards.
• Build, mentor and manage high‑performing teams across all departments.
• Monitor financial performance, budgeting and reporting to ensure profitability.

Required profile

• Proven track record in senior management within a trading or similar commercial environment.
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to identify new business opportunities.
• Demonstrated experience driving operational excellence and managing large teams.
• Experience working in or with African markets is a distinct advantage.
