Head Nurse – Nursing Services

About the role

The Head Nurse – Nursing Services will lead the nursing team at Aster Hospital in Al Qusais, ensuring high‑quality patient care and smooth unit operations. This senior nursing position reports directly to the department head and collaborates with hospital leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare duty rosters to guarantee adequate staffing for each shift.
• Ensure availability of manpower, materials, equipment, and supplies.
• Maintain equipment, furniture, and fittings in good working order for patient, visitor, and staff safety.
• Oversee overall administration of the assigned unit.
• Participate in staff meetings, committees, debriefings, and update staff on policy changes.
• Serve as first point of contact for staff and patient concerns.
• Monitor resource utilization and enforce disciplinary policies.
• Facilitate open communication and ensure confidentiality of written and electronic information.
• Collect and report statistical data and quality indicators to the department head.
• Report incidents, maintain records, and address safety issues promptly.
• Promote evidence‑based practice and continuous professional development.
• Assess staff performance, provide counseling, and arrange in‑house training.
• Model professional behavior for peers, subordinates, and students.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (RN) with current licensure in the UAE.
• Proven leadership experience in a hospital nursing environment.
• Strong understanding of health‑and‑safety standards and hospital policies.
• Ability to manage conflicts, make decisions, and take accountability.
• Excellent communication skills for inter‑departmental coordination.
