Head of Business and Economics

About the role

We are looking for an outstanding Head of Business and Economics to lead the department at GEMS Metropole Motor City, Dubai, starting in August 2026. The role combines academic leadership with a strong focus on sustainability and professional development within a global education network.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction and day‑to‑day leadership for the Business and Economics department.
• Oversee curriculum development, assessment design and data‑informed improvement strategies for IGCSE and A‑Level programmes.
• Promote sustainable values across the curriculum and embed eco‑friendly initiatives in teaching practice.
• Mentor and support teachers, model outstanding classroom practice and drive professional growth.
• Collaborate with senior leaders to raise achievement and standards across the school.

Required profile

• B.Ed or subject‑related degree together with a PGCE, PGDE or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Proven experience teaching Business and Economics at secondary level, including IGCSE and A‑Level.
• Experience as a Head of Department or readiness to assume departmental leadership.
• Demonstrated commitment to raising student achievement and standards.

Required skills

• Curriculum development for Business and Economics.
• Design and implementation of assessment and data‑driven improvement strategies.
• Strong IT, organisational and interpersonal abilities to work with students, parents and colleagues.
