Head of Finance & Custody (VARA-regulated)

About the role

The Head of Finance & Custody will lead the finance function and client‑asset safeguarding for Kraken's VARA‑regulated Dubai VASP entity. Reporting to Group Finance, you will ensure accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance and robust custody controls in a fast‑evolving crypto environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver monthly, quarterly and annual management and financial accounts for the Dubai entity.
• Compile and submit VARA regulatory reporting packs and act as the primary contact for VARA finance queries.
• Develop forecasts and budgets in collaboration with Group FP&A, monitoring paid‑up capital and Net Liquid Assets against thresholds.
• Lead the statutory audit process and liaise with Group Financial Control.
• Design and maintain the finance function’s control environment and risk register.
• Oversee the safeguarding of client money and virtual assets, ensuring compliance with the VASP licence.
• Serve as the bridge between Group Finance, the Group Client Asset Office and the local VARA‑regulated business.

Required profile

• Proven experience in finance and client‑asset custody within regulated financial services.
• Strong control‑focused mindset with ability to operate independently.
• Familiarity with VARA or similar regulatory frameworks and VASP requirements.
• Excellent analytical and reporting skills in a high‑growth, crypto‑focused environment.
