Head of Financial Services – Economics Specialist

About the role

The Westminster School – Dubai is seeking a dynamic leader to head its Financial Services and Economics department. This senior position combines strategic management with hands‑on teaching of IGCSE and A‑Level Economics.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the department’s strategic plan and curriculum aligned with IGCSE Economics syllabus.
• Lead and mentor a team of teachers, conduct performance evaluations and professional development sessions.
• Deliver engaging Economics lessons, incorporating real‑world financial case studies and data‑driven instructional strategies.
• Monitor student performance, analyse data, and drive improvement initiatives to achieve strong examination results.
• Maintain compliance with GEMS policies, safeguarding standards, and accreditation requirements.
• Coordinate with examination boards, manage curriculum audits and ensure proper documentation.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
• Teaching qualification (PGCE or equivalent).
• 5–7 years of secondary‑level teaching experience, with at least 2–3 years in a head‑of‑department or similar leadership role.
• Proven track record of delivering excellent IGCSE Economics results.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of the IGCSE Economics syllabus and assessment standards.
