Head of Legal

About the role

Quantum Light is looking for an exceptional Head of Legal to serve as the top legal authority for its global investment platform. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will build and lead a best‑in‑class legal function while shaping the firm’s long‑term strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Draft and refine Limited Partnership Agreements, Private Placement Memorandums, Advisory Agreements and other offering documents.
• Provide strategic advice on fund formation, offering mechanics and complex investor side‑letter negotiations.
• Manage global licensing strategy, act as primary liaison with regulators such as the FCA and SEC, and ensure precise compliance.
• Support structuring and negotiation of commercial deals, M&A activity and strategic partnerships.
• Drive automation of routine legal workflows and implement AI‑powered solutions to increase speed and accuracy.
• Advise on corporate governance, equity administration, employment matters, IP, AI governance and data‑privacy issues.
• Oversee the enterprise legal risk and compliance program and ensure timely regulatory reporting across multiple jurisdictions.

Required profile

• Law degree from a premier law school and admission to practice in a major common‑law jurisdiction (UK or US preferred).
• 7–13 years of post‑qualification experience, combining top‑tier international law‑firm fund practice with in‑house experience at a fast‑paced PE/VC fund.
• Proven expertise in structuring a variety of fund vehicles, compensation structures, carried interest and fee arrangements.
• Deep knowledge of private‑fund regulatory frameworks in the UK, EU, US and UAE.
• Experience coordinating with external tax counsel on complex tax structuring.
• Familiarity with AI and data‑privacy regulations.
• Track record of managing legal budgets and overseeing global external counsel.
• Ability to work autonomously and lead a legal team without significant oversight.
