Head of Physical Energy Trading (Dubai)

About the role

Redstone Search Group is partnering with a leading international commodities trading firm to recruit a Head of Physical Energy Trading for its Dubai operation. This senior commercial leadership position will drive the growth and performance of the firm’s physical energy trading business across oil, refined products and broader energy markets.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop the firm’s physical energy trading activities, setting strategy and commercial targets.
• Manage and expand trading flows, identifying new supply channels, customers and geographic markets.
• Originate, negotiate and execute physical supply, offtake and structured trading agreements.
• Maintain senior relationships with producers, refiners, trading houses, NOCs, distributors and end‑users.
• Own trading risk, exposure, position management and overall book performance.
• Lead, mentor and develop a team of traders while collaborating with operations, shipping, risk, finance and credit functions.
• Provide senior management with market intelligence and contribute to the broader commercial strategy.

Required profile

• 10–15 years of experience in physical energy or oil products trading with a proven P&L track record.
• Extensive international network of suppliers, buyers and counterparties.
• Deep understanding of commodity flows, pricing, logistics, freight, storage, risk and contract structures.
• Previous experience managing traders or building a commercial trading function.
• Entrepreneurial mindset combined with the discipline to operate within a large trading organization.
• Middle‑East market exposure is advantageous but not mandatory.
