Hospital Porter – Patient Support & Transport

About the role

The Porter supports safe, patient‑focused care at American Hospital Dubai by assisting with patient transport, luggage handling and general hospitality duties throughout the facility. This role ensures a welcoming environment for patients, families and visitors while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with hospital policies.

Key responsibilities

• Transfer patient luggage to and from rooms and assist with loading/unloading vehicles.
• Escort patients during admission, discharge and whenever they need to move within the hospital premises.
• Provide information and directions to patients, visitors and prospective customers about hospital services and facilities.
• Answer telephone calls with proper etiquette and respond to mobile calls within three rings.
• Support the Information Desk, collect and deliver lab samples, and assist departments with transportation needs.
• Maintain cleanliness, organization and safety of waiting areas, corridors and assigned work stations.
• Report equipment failures, safety or security issues, and inventory shortages to the Patient Relations Supervisor.
• Participate in staff meetings and ensure wheelchairs are available at the information desk.

Required profile

• High school graduate.
• Fluent spoken and written English; Arabic speaking is a plus.
• Knowledge of customer service principles.
• Previous experience in a hospital or similar patient‑focused environment is preferred.
