HSE Engineer – SWRO

About the role

WSP is seeking an experienced HSE Engineer to support its SWRO (Seawater Reverse Osmosis) projects in Abu Dhabi. You will be responsible for embedding health, safety and environmental policies across project sites, ensuring compliance with local and international regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in aligning projects with WSP’s HSEQ Management System and client HSEQ requirements.
• Monitor and evaluate health, safety and environmental arrangements on‑site, ensuring legal and client compliance.
• Review and approve contractors’ HSE plans, risk assessments and method statements before work starts.
• Conduct regular HSE inspections, audits and document findings with corrective actions.
• Initiate, coordinate and test emergency response plans, including scheduled drills.
• Follow up on incident investigations, verify root‑cause analysis and enforce preventive measures.
• Provide technical HSE guidance to project teams, contractors and stakeholders.
• Lead HSE meetings, toolbox talks and workshops to promote safety awareness.
• Prepare monthly HSE reports with KPIs, incidents and safety initiatives.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of HSE experience in construction or industrial projects.
• Strong knowledge of local UAE HSE regulations and international standards.
• Proven ability to work with multidisciplinary teams and contractors.
• Excellent communication and reporting skills.
