Junior Legal Counsel

About the role

We are seeking a Junior Legal Counsel to provide proactive legal advisory support for a leading bank's transactions, product development and initiatives. The role ensures alignment with applicable legal, regulatory, market and internal standards while working closely with internal stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Provide proactive legal advisory support for banking transactions, product development and initiatives, ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory and internal standards.
• Collaborate with the legal team and internal business stakeholders on UAE banking transactions, minimizing legal risk.
• Assist the Head of Advisory, Legal on syndications, derivatives and structured finance matters.
• Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements such as software licensing, services, procurement and subscription arrangements.
• Prepare and negotiate lending and security documentation, including credit facility agreements, term loans, assignments, pledges and movable security agreements.
• Identify and communicate potential legal and regulatory risks, supporting the development of mitigation strategies.
• Promote collaboration across legal, business and functional teams to ensure smooth execution of mandates.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in law and admission to practice in any jurisdiction; Common Law qualification preferred.
• 2–5 years of post‑qualification experience in banking and finance, covering private practice and in‑house roles.
• Strong knowledge of UAE corporate, commercial, financing and security law, including Islamic finance documentation structures.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English; Arabic is a plus.
