Lead Civil Engineer – Offshore Island Project

About the role

The Lead Civil Engineer will head civil and structural engineering activities for KBR's offshore island project, initially based in Abu Dhabi with subsequent relocation to Spain and return to the UAE. The role ensures compliance with ADNOC standards, international codes, safety, quality and schedule requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead civil and structural design for offshore oil & gas facilities, including foundations, concrete and steel structures.
• Develop and manage engineering deliverables such as design basis, structural calculations, and underground utilities.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams (process, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation).
• Review and approve drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
• Ensure compliance with ADNOC, API, AISC, BS, Eurocodes and ASTM standards.
• Interface with clients, consultants, EPC contractors and vendors on technical matters.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.
• Support procurement, construction, commissioning and site engineering activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (Master's preferred); Professional Engineer (PE) certification advantageous.
• 15–20 years of experience in oil & gas, EPC or offshore projects, with at least 5 years in a lead or supervisory role.
• Extensive experience on ADNOC, Saudi Aramco, QatarEnergy or similar Middle‑East offshore projects.
• Proven track record in FEED, detailed engineering and EPC execution.
