Lead Civil/Structural Engineer

About the role

Wood Group is seeking a Lead Civil & Structural Engineer to oversee the design and delivery of civil and structural works for oil and gas projects in Dubai. The role involves managing deliverables across all project phases, ensuring quality, safety, and schedule compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare civil and structural deliverables for all project phases in the oil and gas industry.
• Ensure work is completed without compromise to quality and delivered on schedule.
• Provide direction on civil and structural engineering queries from internal and external parties.
• Assume sole responsibility for assigned civil and structural engineering scopes.
• Support electrical discipline work within the project team for field development of production facilities.
• Plan, budget, organise and control a segment of civil and structural engineering deliverables.
• Liaise with client engineering, operations and maintenance staff to ensure consistent project completion.
• Promote safe behaviour at all times.
• Provide technical advice and solutions to diverse engineering problems.
• Coordinate with other disciplines during design, construction, pre‑commissioning and start‑up.

Required profile

• Minimum 15 years experience in the oil and gas industry.
• At least 6 years proven capability in an engineering design company.
• Degree qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Membership of a recognised professional institute preferred.
• Experience working with multi‑national and multi‑cultural project teams.
• Previous experience in the Middle East is an advantage.
• Thorough knowledge of civil and structural design fundamentals and analysis.
• Strong awareness of relevant international codes and standards.

Required skills

• Proficiency with typical civil and structural design software packages.
• Experience participating in HAZOP studies.
• Experience participating in HAZID studies.
• Experience with SIL Rating studies.
