Lead Embedded Hardware Engineer

About the role

Eaton is seeking a Lead Embedded Hardware Engineer to drive the hardware technology roadmap for its EMEA Power Management Control Center (PMCC) and Low‑Voltage Switchgear (LSDPI) product portfolio. The role combines technical leadership, product development, and cross‑functional collaboration to deliver reliable, cost‑effective embedded and IoT‑enabled solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the hardware technology roadmap for PLCs, low‑voltage switchgear, IoT products, and related control solutions.
• Lead hardware engineering activities for new product introductions, PCB modernization, value engineering, and sustaining projects.
• Drive adoption of emerging technologies in PLC platforms, PCB design, and electronic architectures.
• Provide technical leadership for component selection, architecture reviews, validation, and product lifecycle management.
• Manage component lifecycle, obsolescence, and supply continuity to ensure long‑term product sustainability.

Required profile

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering or Telecommunications.
• 8+ years of experience in electronic hardware design, PCB development, and product lifecycle management.
• Proven experience with full product development lifecycle from requirements through qualification and certification.
• Strong knowledge of electronics components (active, passive, custom) and their applications.

Required skills

• PCB manufacturing and assembly processes, including material selection, soldermask, ENIG/HASL/OSP finishes, and conformal coating.
• Proficiency with CAM tools such as CAM350, Gerber View, Valor, and interpretation of Gerber files and fabrication drawings.
• Design‑for‑manufacturing and design‑for‑assembly expertise, including layer stack‑up, prepreg, core materials, and depanelisation methods.
• Experience with reflow, wave, and hand soldering techniques and EMI/EMC mitigation.
• Knowledge of electronic component fabrication technologies and performance characteristics.
