Learning Support Teacher (IB Primary Years)

About the role

GEMS World Academy Abu Dhabi seeks an experienced Learning Support Teacher to join the school for the upcoming academic year. The role focuses on providing targeted support to SEN students within the IB Primary Years Programme up to Grade 5, working closely with classroom teachers and the wider learning support team.

Key responsibilities

• Provide SEN‑focused learning support across the IB Primary Years Programme up to Grade 5.
• Assist the Teacher/Lead Practitioner in promoting academic and personal development of all students.
• Plan and deliver differentiated support during lessons.
• Record and report progress, concerns and achievements to relevant stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Learning Support teams to uphold and continuously improve SEN standards.

Required profile

• A relevant Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Special Education.
• Minimum of 2 years’ demonstrable experience supporting special‑needs students in an American or IB curriculum school.
• Preference for candidates with prior IB school experience.
• Strong knowledge of behavior‑management strategies.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills to influence students, parents, teachers and leaders.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development.
• Belief that all students can achieve top performance with the right support.
