Legal Counsel – UAE National

About the role

ADCB is seeking a UAE National Legal Counsel to join its Legal & Board Secretariat team. The role involves providing legal advice on commercial decisions, managing transactions, and supporting risk management across the bank’s operations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide advice to the business on legal implications of commercial decisions and transaction structures under senior counsel guidance.
• Manage simple to moderately complex transactions, liaising with external counsel and the Documentation Unit for drafting and project management.
• Identify, anticipate and manage legal risks, contributing to improvements in the bank’s legal infrastructure.
• Deliver training to colleagues on legal matters and raise awareness of legal issues.
• Select and oversee external counsel, ensuring appropriate service levels and cost efficiency.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of legal experience, preferably in banking/finance or commercial law, from a reputable law firm or regional/international bank.
• Bachelor’s degree in law (or equivalent with a recognized conversion course).
• Admission to practice in a civil or common‑law jurisdiction is desirable.
• Strong problem‑solving, analytical and communication skills.
• Early leadership experience and ability to draft legal documents in English and Arabic.
