Local Business Unit Controller

About the role

The Local Business Unit Controller will act as the finance partner for the Domestic Sales Unit Project Manager in the UAE market. This role is responsible for all financial, commercial and tax aspects of the project portfolio, ensuring accurate reporting and proactive performance management.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with the Tender Manager to review financial, commercial and tax implications during the tender stage, preparing cash‑flow and exposure analyses.
• Develop and maintain the Project Financial Execution Plan, covering revenue recognition, billing, payment securities, import duties and VAT.
• Ensure the accuracy of project balance sheets, income statements, cash‑flow forecasts and monthly/quarterly financial updates.
• Validate project invoices, manage currency risk, tax issues, bonds and guarantees, and monitor revenue and gross‑margin contributions.
• Establish project governance, identify risks and opportunities, and drive timely mitigation actions.
• Prepare and deliver monthly financial closings, forecasts, budgets and comprehensive financial packages.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to support operational decisions, monitor KPIs and conduct ad‑hoc financial analyses.
• Follow up on internal audit findings and ensure compliance with internal controls.

Required profile

• Proven experience in project finance or controlling within a large industrial or energy organization.
• Strong understanding of commercial contracts, tax regulations and VAT in the UAE.
• Ability to prepare detailed financial execution plans and manage cash‑flow forecasting.
• Excellent analytical skills with a focus on accuracy and transparency in reporting.
• Effective communication and collaboration with project managers and cross‑functional teams.
