Logistics Manager

About the role

The American University of Ras Al Khaimah is seeking an experienced Logistics Manager to lead and optimise its logistics and transportation operations. The role involves developing policies, managing budgets, coordinating with senior managers, and ensuring safe, efficient movement of goods and personnel across the campus.

Key responsibilities

• Formulate and finalise logistics policies, guidelines and plans aligned with university objectives.
• Implement plans on time, monitor progress, identify deviations and resolve issues.
• Design an effective departmental structure to enhance coordination between sections.
• Prepare budget proposals and resource plans to forecast material costs and constraints.
• Define standards and assessment criteria for vendors and suppliers, finalise large contracts and review performance reports.
• Network with senior managers across functions to ensure inter‑departmental coordination and define service requirements.
• Prepare management information reports to support senior‑management decision‑making and identify cost‑saving opportunities.
• Plan, organise and manage subordinate staff to meet organisational requirements.
• Serve as the primary contact for all workers within assigned territories.
• Promote safe work activities through safety audits and meetings.
• Develop procedural manuals and contracts for public transportation programmes.
• Direct operations activities, including equipment, facilities and human‑resource utilisation.
• Oversee repairs and maintenance of equipment, vehicles and facilities.
• Conduct investigations with government agencies to determine causes of transportation accidents and improve safety procedures.
• Analyse expenditures and financial data to develop plans, policies and budgets for profit increase and service improvement.
• Negotiate and authorise contracts with equipment and material suppliers and monitor fulfilment.
• Recommend or authorise capital expenditures for new equipment or property to increase efficiency.
