Marine Superintendent

About the role

The Marine Superintendent will act as the primary marine resource for the Fleet Cell, ensuring vessels operate to the highest safety standards while meeting customer expectations. Based in Abu Dhabi, the role supports all fleet operations and collaborates closely with the Fleet Manager and senior officers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead safety initiatives, making decisions that guarantee safe vessel operation and environmental protection.
• Oversee delivery of marine management services to customers, ensuring operational performance meets contractual expectations.
• Maintain navigational standards through regular review of practices and procedures, implementing improvements as needed.
• Monitor shipboard drug and alcohol testing programmes.
• Participate in office safety‑critical work reviews and approve related actions.
• Ensure commercial operations of assigned vessels are conducted safely and efficiently.
• Plan, arrange and monitor internal and external audits for managed vessels.
• Authorize the selection of senior officers for assigned vessels and conduct their performance appraisals in line with VMS procedures.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years (60 months) of experience in ship management or marine operations.
• Valid Class 2 1st Mate certificate of competency.
• Strong knowledge of maritime safety regulations and risk assessment methodologies.
• Proven ability to make decisive safety‑related decisions and collaborate with senior management.
