Mechanical Assistant (Mechanical Fitter)

About the role

We are looking for a Mechanical Assistant to support the maintenance and fitting of tobacco processing and packaging equipment at our Jebel Ali Freezone facility. Working under the guidance of senior mechanics and engineers, you will help ensure that machinery runs efficiently with minimal downtime.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the installation, repair, and routine maintenance of processing machinery.
• Carry out preventive and breakdown maintenance tasks, including lubrication and adjustment of mechanical components.
• Replace worn parts such as bearings, belts, gears, and couplings under supervision.
• Support machine overhauls, scheduled servicing, and emergency shutdown repairs.
• Collaborate with electricians, production teams, and supervisors to resolve mechanical issues.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and ensure all tools are properly stored.
• Document completed work and report faults or abnormalities to the line manager.

Required profile

• ITI/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical trade.
• 1–3 years of experience as a Mechanical Assistant, Technician, or Fitter in industrial manufacturing, preferably in continuous process environments.
• Good communication skills and ability to work effectively within a maintenance team.
• Commitment to health, safety, and compliance procedures, including LOTO and PPE use.
