Mechanical Design Engineer II

About the role

The Mechanical Design Engineer II will support the design, analysis and development of gas‑turbine and turbojet/turbofan engines at POWERTECH, a centre of excellence for propulsion technologies. Working under senior engineers, you will own defined components or sub‑assemblies and contribute to product development from concept through testing.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop turbomachinery components such as shafts, casings, brackets, seals and secondary hardware.
• Create 3D CAD models and 2D engineering drawings, applying GD&T and tolerance stack‑up principles.
• Perform high‑fidelity stress, deformation and fatigue analyses of engine parts and support thermal growth assessments.
• Assist rotor assembly design, bearing integration and housing design for rotating equipment.
• Apply Design for Manufacturability principles, interact with manufacturing, and define material selections and tolerances.
• Support engine build, rig testing and instrumentation definition.
• Prepare engineering documentation, manage design changes and configuration updates.
• Participate in root‑cause analysis and continuous improvement activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• 4–7 years of mechanical design experience, preferably in turbomachinery or gas‑turbine environments.
• Experience in product development and prototype testing.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD tools such as CATIA or NX.
• Basic finite‑element analysis using ANSYS or similar software.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design fundamentals, GD&T, stress and fatigue behavior.
• Knowledge of rotating machinery concepts, bearings and lubrication systems.
