Mechanical Engineer – Commercial Kitchen Ventilation

About the role

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer with proven experience in commercial kitchen ventilation systems to develop and improve hood products and demand‑controlled ventilation solutions. The role involves product development, prototyping, testing, supplier qualification and on‑site commissioning across the UAE and GCC.

Key responsibilities

• Design and enhance commercial kitchen ventilation hoods, translating requirements into manufacturable products with the 3D Designer.
• Write and execute test plans for hood performance, including airflow, grease extraction, noise and sensor functionality.
• Conduct laboratory and on‑site tests, analyse results, identify root causes and implement corrective design actions.
• Evaluate and qualify suppliers, reviewing datasheets, manuals, test reports and certifications.
• Commission and calibrate demand‑controlled ventilation systems on site, troubleshoot performance issues and verify control logic.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 3–5 years of product development experience, preferably in HVAC, ventilation or commercial kitchen equipment.
• Hands‑on experience with commercial kitchen ventilation hoods and demand‑controlled ventilation principles.
• Willingness to travel occasionally across the UAE and GCC and work flexible hours when project deadlines require.

Required skills

• Knowledge of standards DW 172, EN 16282 and ASHRAE 154.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software, preferably Autodesk Inventor.
• Experience in writing and executing structured test plans for ventilation systems.
• Familiarity with demand‑controlled kitchen ventilation (DCKV) systems and related sensors.
