Mechanical Integration Engineer

About the role

AirQo is looking for a detail‑oriented Mechanical Integration Engineer to join its R&D team in Abu Dhabi. You will bridge airframe, propulsion, avionics, payload and launch/recovery subsystems, turning concepts into a unified, manufacturable vehicle. This position is ideal for an early‑career engineer who enjoys working at the intersection of aerodynamics, structures and systems.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in conceptual design studies, contribute to system‑level architecture and trade‑off analyses.
• Define and manage mechanical‑avionics mounting interfaces, cable routing and accessibility for maintenance.
• Identify integration risks early and drive resolution with subsystem owners.
• Support hands‑on prototype assembly, resolve fit/form issues and produce manufacturing‑ready drawings.
• Develop validation and test plans, record test results and author technical reports for design reviews.

Required profile

• 0–3 years of experience in mechanical design, systems integration or product development.
• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial or Mechatronics Engineering.
• Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and manage competing priorities.

Required skills

• Strong proficiency in SolidWorks (3D modelling, assemblies, configurations, drawing environments).
• Competence in producing 2D production drawings to GD&T, ASME/ISO standards.
• Familiarity with PDM/PLM data‑management systems.
• Understanding of mechanical design principles, materials and manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge of composite materials, additive manufacturing, DFM and DFA principles.
• Experience with FEA tools such as SolidWorks Simulation or ANSYS for basic structural analysis.
• Awareness of aerospace certification/qualification requirements.
