Medical Lab Technologist – Blood Bank

About the role

The Medical Lab Technologist 1 – Blood Bank is responsible for independently performing laboratory procedures in the blood bank section, following established operational rules and guidelines. The role supports quality patient care by ensuring accurate analysis, reporting, and release of test results.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct laboratory analyses, review results, and release reports in compliance with SOPs.
• Operate, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment, documenting any issues.
• Maintain inventory of reagents and consumables, reporting shortages promptly.
• Participate in proficiency testing, internal audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Assist in drafting and updating standard operating procedures.
• Provide training and orientation for new staff and trainees.
• Respond to stakeholder concerns, complaints, and incident reports.
• Perform on‑call and shift duties, including weekends and public holidays.

Required profile

• UAE national or candidate who has completed an internship.
• Minimum of 2 years experience in a clinical laboratory environment (or equivalent qualifications).
• BSc in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or an accredited MLT program.

Required skills

• Laboratory equipment operation, maintenance, and calibration.
• Quality control and assurance procedures.
• Proficiency in sample analysis and result reporting.
• Ability to follow and develop SOPs.
