Medical Science Liaison

About the role

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a field‑based, non‑promotional position that connects GSK with the healthcare community. The role focuses on advancing clinical practice within an assigned territory to improve patient outcomes through scientific exchange and trusted medical support.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and engage healthcare professionals (HCPs) – physicians, pharmacists, nurses – to assess educational needs and gather insights for medical plans.
• Provide disease‑state and product‑related scientific education in a non‑promotional manner, discussing emerging data, clinical trials, unmet medical needs and patient access barriers.
• Collect and communicate medical insights across the product lifecycle to inform strategy.
• Plan and manage territory activities, mapping and prioritising scientific engagements aligned with medical strategy.
• Support clinical research and investigator‑initiated studies, collaborating with Medical Affairs and Clinical Operations.
• Work with internal stakeholders (Medical Affairs, Clinical, Commercial, Market Access) to ensure a customer‑centric, compliant approach.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of therapeutic areas and GSK medicines to act as a credible resource.
• Ensure all activities comply with GSK’s Code of Conduct, SOPs and local regulations.

Required profile

• MD, PharmD, PhD or other relevant life‑sciences degree, or equivalent experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to tailor complex scientific information to diverse audiences.
• Ability to translate complex science into clear, concise messages.
• Solid grounding in clinical, medical and pharmaceutical sciences with rapid topic assimilation.
• Understanding of clinical development and basic statistical design and analysis.
• Effective networking and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
