Music Teacher & String Ensemble Lead

About the role

GEMS Modern Academy is seeking a passionate Music Teacher who will also lead the school’s String Ensemble. The role combines classroom instruction with ensemble direction, supporting the holistic development of students across primary, middle and senior sections.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, deliver and assess music lessons aligned with the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) standards.
• Teach violin to pupils from Grade 3 through to Grade 8, using recognised syllabi such as TCL or ABRSM.
• Lead, develop and expand the school’s String Ensemble repertoire.
• Accompany violin lessons and ensemble rehearsals on piano.
• Contribute to school cultural events, productions and annual concerts.
• Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development and school community activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Music.
• Violin proficiency at Grade 8 level (TCL, ABRSM or equivalent).
• Strong piano playing ability for accompaniment.
• Minimum five years of music‑teaching experience, preferably in an international PYP environment.
• Experience directing a school orchestra or string ensemble.
• Commitment to professional growth and collaborative school life.
