Offshore Cooling Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a skilled Cooling System Design Engineer to join our Dubai design team. You will create innovative cooling solutions for offshore platforms and harsh‑environment industrial facilities, turning complex thermal challenges into reliable, field‑ready systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design custom cooling systems from concept to detailed engineering for offshore and industrial applications worldwide.
• Perform heat‑load calculations, system modeling, and equipment sizing to verify design performance.
• Select and specify equipment, pipe sizes, compressors, control panels, and related components.
• Collaborate with customers to understand real‑world problems and translate them into effective solutions.
• Produce detailed engineering drawings and P&IDs for fabrication.
• Coordinate with field teams to ensure designs are installable and function as intended.
• Troubleshoot installation issues and provide on‑site support when needed.
• Stay updated on new refrigerants, energy‑efficiency standards, and emerging cooling technologies.

Required profile

• Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 3–7 years of experience designing industrial cooling systems, preferably in harsh environments.
• Experience with offshore, marine, or desert applications is a strong advantage.
• Familiarity with international codes and standards governing refrigeration and pressure equipment.

Required skills

• Strong thermodynamics foundation and ability to perform heat‑transfer calculations manually.
• Proficiency in cooling‑load calculations and system sizing.
• CAD expertise (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar).
• Simulation tools experience (ANSYS, CFD, refrigeration modeling software).
• In‑depth knowledge of refrigeration cycles, heat exchangers, compressor selection, and chiller types (centrifugal, screw, reciprocating, absorption).
• Ability to read and create P&IDs, electrical schematics, and control logic diagrams.
• Understanding of eco‑friendly refrigerants, heat‑pump applications, and energy‑recovery systems.
