Panel Operator

About the role

The Panel Operator is responsible for controlling and monitoring material handling, reactor charge and discharge, hot DRI transport, and related processes at Emirates Steel Industries. The role ensures that process parameters follow daily operating instructions and SOPs while maintaining safety and efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Operate control panels for material handling systems, reactor charge/discharge, hot DRI transport, cold DRI handling, de‑dusting and cement coating.
• Maintain process parameters according to SOPs, record data in log sheets, and take corrective actions to avoid delays or unsafe events.
• Coordinate with field staff, set equipment and valve positions, and communicate deviations to shift supervisors.
• Follow shutdown, start‑up and emergency procedures to ensure safe plant operation.

Required profile

• Minimum secondary school/ITI education.
• 3‑5 years experience in large petrochemical, fertilizer or gas‑based DRI plants, including at least 3 years on a Tennova HYL DRI plant.
• At least 3 years as a control‑room operations foreman or in‑charge.
• Operational experience with Siemens, Honeywell or Yokogawa control systems for a minimum of 3 years.
• Training in process safety, HAZOP exposure and gas‑panel operation.
