Pastoral Support Lead

About the role

The Pastoral Support Lead is responsible for ensuring the safety, security, and orderly conduct of students throughout the school day. This position supports a positive learning environment by supervising hallways, common areas, and transitions between classes.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise hallways, stairwells, and common areas during school hours and transition periods.
• Ensure students adhere to school rules and behavioural expectations.
• Direct students to their classes and maintain smooth traffic flow.
• Monitor for safety hazards or unauthorized activities and report them promptly.
• Respond calmly to incidents, conflicts, or emergencies.
• Support teachers and staff in maintaining discipline during breaks and lunch periods.
• Maintain accurate incident records and submit required reports.
• Act as a positive role model, promoting respect and responsibility.
• Communicate with parents to ensure clear information flow.
• Assist with student attendance, punctuality, reflection time, and restorative practices.
• Mentor students or groups to enhance the learning culture.
• Contribute to whole‑school culture initiatives and staff professional development.

Required profile

• Minimum high school education.
• Experience or aptitude for working with students; teaching or teaching‑assistant experience preferred.
• Professional proficiency in written and spoken English.
• Enthusiasm for working with students and strong teamwork skills.
• Ability to use initiative, remain calm under pressure, and resolve conflicts.
• Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Knowledge of child safety; basic first‑aid knowledge is an advantage.
• Fluency in English; Arabic language skills are a plus.
