Planning Engineer

About the role

The Planning Engineer will support senior planners in developing and monitoring project schedules to ensure timely, cost‑effective delivery of construction projects. The role provides expert planning, forecasting and risk analysis while mentoring junior staff.

Key responsibilities

• Assist senior planners in developing baseline schedules and work breakdown structures.
• Prepare look‑ahead schedules (2–4 weeks) aligned with site execution and update programmes based on actual progress.
• Collect progress data from site engineers, construction managers and subcontractors, measure physical progress and critical‑path activities.
• Produce weekly and monthly progress reports, dashboards, S‑curves and histograms.
• Coordinate with construction, engineering and procurement teams to support sequencing and construction methodology planning.
• Maintain planning logs, schedule narratives and progress documentation, ensuring consistency between programme and site status.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management or related field (Master’s preferred).
• 4–6 years of progressive experience in project planning and scheduling within construction or engineering sectors.
• 3–5 years in a planning role with hands‑on expertise in baseline development, resource loading and critical‑path analysis.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers and supporting cross‑functional teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Primavera P6.
• Proficiency in MS Project.
• Advanced use of MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
